Twenty three adults and youth from Hilltop UMC left Sioux Falls early in the morning June 21st on a four hour bus trip followed by a six hour plane filght to Anchorage, Alaska.  For the next week the group developed friendships with local children,  held afternoon Vacation Bible School in the park, and roasted hotdogs for the community in the evenings.  Their goal was to show the love of Jesus by their words and actions.  One day the service project was to visit residents in a nursing home.  While some of the group members visited residents, others did repair work in the building and cleared weeds outside.  Another day was spent working at a local food bank.  Two small groups had the exciting opportunity to join a bush pilot on his flights in a sea plane delivering supplies into the wilderness.   Time to see the awe inspiring sights of Alaska rounded out the trip.
